Nissan Juke - Is It A Design Fault?
Have Nissan got a design fault with their Juke model, as I think they have? There is a lever on the side of the driver’s seat that lowers and raises the seat for driver positioning. My seat was going lower a few days after raising it to my preferred highest driving position.
My local dealer took it in and agreed it was a warranty repair, and so they put on a new frame that I believe the seat is attached to, as that controls the height adjustment, yet within days of the car being returned, the same problem re-occurred, and I was back to raising it every couple of days. And so, the garage agreed to take the car back in to have another look and could find no faults with anything or any part.
When exiting the car, it seems the normal movement of a driver is to swing their right leg out of the car and push out with their left; this means there is natural pressure applied to the right side of the seat through their buttock or thigh, thus putting pressure onto the lever through the seat and pushing down on the lever, which lowers the height of the seat.
When I pointed out that it was obviously a design fault, the very helpful member of staff from the service department, shrugged her shoulders and said, ‘yes.’
That to me is a design issue; we nearly all exit cars the same way! Take note Nissan.
Should there be a weight limit - I hope not!
